How LOU-TEC modernized its business intelligence with agileDSS and Power BI
A strategic shift in analytics for LOU-TEC
With data now a major strategic driver, organizations are seeking to modernize their business intelligence to improve agility and performance. That’s why LOU-TEC chose to work with agileDSS to build a modern, scalable analytics ecosystem tailored to their business needs.
Quebec’s leading equipment rental company for construction contractors and industrial sites, LOU-TEC is experiencing sustained growth across the province, as well as in Ontario through the Torcan Lift Equipment brand. With the largest fleet of lifting equipment in Quebec, an extensive network of branches, and a wide array of partners, LOU-TEC has firmly established itself as a key player in the sector.
But such a rapid expansion brings new challenges in terms of analytics: the need for fast, reliable, structured data access; a proliferation of data sources (ERP, CRM, HRIS, Google Analytics, and more); and reliance on manual reports. And so, LOU-TEC partnered with agileDSS to make the shift toward a modern, future-proof business intelligence built on Microsoft Power BI and Azure Synapse Analytics.
An iterative, collaborative approach to building a modern analytics ecosystem
To set this transition in motion, LOU-TEC turned to agileDSS to design and deploy a robust and scalable Power BI foundation. Our task was to rapidly deliver high-value dashboards while laying the groundwork for a future-ready analytics architecture.
This architecture includes:
- A data lake structured using a medallion architecture
- Automated data ingestion through Azure Synapse pipelines
- Synapse serverless SQL pool for fast, flexible access
- A planned transition to a centralized data warehouse in Azure Synapse
Thanks to this foundation, LOU-TEC now benefits from a solid analytics environment designed to adapt as business needs evolve.
Measurable results: Building agile, future-ready business intelligence
Throughout the project, agileDSS supported LOU-TEC in the implementation and gradual adoption of Power BI, helping internal teams structure data, build capacities, and scale usage. Our consistent collaboration enabled users to quickly gain autonomy while strengthening data governance. Our work together has yielded concrete, lasting results:
- Complete automation of key reports, ensuring reliable and up-to-date Power BI reporting
- Widespread adoption of self-service analytics across business units
- Improved data governance and role-based access controls
- Reduced reliance on IT teams and accelerated decision-making
The project is now regarded as a real success story in business intelligence modernization, showing how a well-structured strategy can transform a company’s data culture.
A future-ready architecture built for innovation and AI
With Azure Synapse and Power BI, LOU-TEC now operates on a cloud architecture designed to support future AI-driven use cases.
The possibilities are vast: forecasting equipment demand, optimizing operations, analyzing branch performance, and enhancing the customer experience through predictive analytics.
This project perfectly exemplifies agileDSS’s mission: to help companies modernize their analytics ecosystem while laying the groundwork for the adoption of AI technologies. We place people and business value at the heart of every transformation, ensuring that our solutions combine performance, simplicity, and long-term scalability.
